The 2026 Lake Tahoe CONFERENCE SCHEDULE

JEFF WALTHER – Off-Set Guard Series: Attacks and Sweeps

Jeff introduces a dynamic guard system designed to create angles, disrupt balance, and generate offense. The off-set guard allows practitioners to move away from static positions and into active attacks and sweeps. Expect a mix of timing, leverage, and smart positioning that turns guard from defensive to dangerous.

DAN SIMMLER – Top Side Pressure & Attacks: Pin to Win

Dan brings a crushing top game focused on control that breaks opponents mentally and physically. This session emphasizes pressure mechanics, body positioning, and strategic attacks from side control. Students will learn how to immobilize, isolate, and advance—turning control into submissions or transitions. This is about making your opponent carry weight they can’t escape.

ARI KNAZAN- Vest and Grab Counters: Throws and Wrist Locks

Ari dives into real-world application—dealing with aggressive grabs on vests and gear. This block blends stand-up grappling with law enforcement realities, focusing on balance disruption, off-lining, and immediate control. Students will learn how to turn reactive situations into proactive outcomes using throws, wrist locks, and positional dominance. Simple and effective-and painful at times;-)

ARTURO ESPINOZA – Topside Turtle: Attacks & Defenses

The turtle position is often misunderstood—and Arturo breaks it wide open. This session covers how to effectively attack a turtled opponent while maintaining control and awareness, as well as how to defend and recover if you’re the one underneath. Expect tight transitions, pressure-based control, and tactical awareness in a scrambly, high-stakes position.

ROB MAGAO: Escapes from the Bottom.Get Off the X-

This session focuses on surviving and reversing one of the most dominant control positions in grappling—the back. Rob breaks down practical, high-percentage escapes, emphasizing posture, hand fighting, and intelligent base-building. Students will learn how to neutralize immediate threats, create space under pressure, and work back to a stable, dominant position. This is about staying calm in bad spots and earning your way back into the fight.

JERRY HALLERT – Mount Attacks: High Ground Dominance

Mount is one of the most decisive positions in grappling—and Jerry shows how to make it count. This session focuses on control, pressure, and systematic attacks from mount, including transitions, submissions, and maintaining dominance against resistance. The goal: once you earn the top, you stay there—and you finish.

SGT MIKE CHUN – How to Develop a DT Program for Your Agency (LECTURE SERIES)

Sgt. Mike Chun walks through how to build, implement, and sustain an effective defensive tactics program within an agency. From curriculum design to instructor development and buy-in, this session gives attendees practical tools to take back and apply immediately. If you’re serious about raising standards, this is a must.

CAPT DAVE SIVER – Use of Force Training: Are We Training Our People the Right Way? (LECTURE SERIES)

A critical look at how use-of-force training is delivered—and whether it actually prepares officers for reality. Capt. Dave Siver challenges assumptions and explores gaps between training and performance under stress. This session is about evolving training methods to better reflect real-world encounters, decision-making, and accountability.

LAB CLASS – Black Belt Round Table: All Welcome

An open, collaborative environment where experience meets discussion. Black belts lead a round table focused on problem-solving, sharing insights, and exploring different approaches to common challenges. Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or newer to the game, this is a chance to learn from depth of experience and ask real questions.

FAVORITE MOVE? – Demonstration & Filming

A fun but valuable segment where attendees showcase a technique they believe in. This isn’t just for fun—it’s about sharing knowledge, creativity, and personal style. Selected moves will be filmed and featured on our You Tube and social media, giving participants a chance to contribute to the wider community.

GRAPPLING HOUR – Get Some Good Rounds In

Live rounds, pressure testing, and learning through doing. This is where everything comes together—techniques, timing, and adaptability. Expect a high-energy environment focused on growth, respect, and sharpening your edge.

INVITUS INVITATIONAL – Competition Segments

Across the three days, competitors will test their skills in a high-level environment. From early rounds to the championship match, this is where preparation meets performance. Expect intensity, professionalism, and a showcase of what modern grappling looks like at a high level.
